Sanitize the Air in Your Home with UV Lights

Start Breathing Easier in Your Home

There are several types of UV lights on the market today, especially with the current concerns about staying healthy and germ-free. However, it’s difficult to know which ones you can trust with your family’s health and which ones are fake and ineffective.

What Are UV Lights?

Ultraviolet (UV) light is a component of the electromagnetic spectrum that falls in the region between visible light and X-Rays. UV light includes the wavelength range of 100 nm to 400 nm and can be further subdivided and categorized into four separate regions:

100 nm to 200 nm: Far UV or vacuum UV (these wavelengths only propagate in a vacuum)
200 nm to 280 nm: UVC – useful for disinfection and sensing
280 nm to 315 nm: UVB – useful for curing, tanning, and medical applications
315 nm to 400 nm: UVA (or “near UV”) – useful for printing, curing, lithography, sensing, and medical applications

How Does UVC Disinfection Work?

As evident by multiple research studies and reports, when biological organisms are exposed to deep UV light in the range of 200 nm to 300 nm it is absorbed by DNA, RNA, and proteins. Absorption by proteins can lead to the rupture of cell walls and the death of the organism. Absorption by DNA or RNA (specifically by thymine bases) is known to cause the inactivation of the DNA or RNA double helix strands through the formation of thymine dimers. If enough of these dimers are created in DNA, the DNA replication process is disrupted, and the cell cannot replicate.

What are UVC lights Used For?

UVC lights have been used in water treatment for decades so it is not a new technology – it has been tested and proven for years. In fact, it has been proven to be an effective countermeasure against pathogens, viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungus. Every microorganism requires specific amounts of UVC light for inactivation and UVC lights cover a large cross-section of microorganisms.

UV Light Safety

UV radiation exposure even for a shorter duration can be harmful. The level of damage relies on the exposure time, the wavelength, the radiation intensity, and the sensitivity of the individual to UV. Exposure to UVC and UVB results in sunburn and pigmentation with long-term exposure causing premature aging. Do NOT look directly into the UV light.

Can You Trust the UV Lights Sold on Amazon?

Many of these publicly sold UVC lights are fake and ineffective. Genuine UVC lights are quite expensive and are only sold directly from the manufacturer to businesses who install them for commercial and consumer uses such as in water systems and HVAC systems. The bulb alone is quite expensive. The fake UVC light wands and lamps cost anywhere from $20 to $100.

UV Light Whole Home Air Purifier

We have products that have been tested and validated to reduce microorganisms in your home’s air by 99.999996%. The UV light whole-home air purifiers are installed within the Home Comfort System. Unlike the standalone air purifiers, whole-home air purification systems are designed to disinfect the air as it circulates through your ventilation system, cleaning the air moving through your home as the air goes through your Home Comfort System. This not only keeps the air in your home cleaner, but it also keeps your system running more efficiently and extends the life of the system.

Microorganisms are so tiny that most filters do not effectively filter them out of your home’s air. UV lights have been shown to reduce molds and pathogens found within the Home Comfort System and drain pan that would otherwise be introduced back into the air circulating in your home.
